The overall role of the West Regional Office is to provide leadership to the Extension operations within a region comprised of 29 counties, including all matters affecting personnel, finance, public relations, affirmative action in employment, and business operations. The Regional office encourages a philosophy of teamwork and collegiality within County offices, the region, and state.

The West Regional Office provides day-to-day support toward helping County Extension offices be successful. In this regard, a sample of services provided by the West Regional office is as follows:

  • Provides leadership in selection and placement of County Educators and County Extension Directors, including the support for orientation of new Educators and County Directors. 

  • Assists County Extension Directors and advisory committees with the preparation of county budget requests. 

  • Fosters communications and positive relationships between County Extension offices and their respective County Commissioners. 

  • Provides leadership in conflict management and resolution.
